I believe trust is part of good coaching, and that starts long before we ever work together.
If you visit my website, subscribe to my newsletter, book a discovery call or complete a form registering interest, I want you to know exactly what information may be collected, why it’s collected and how it’s used.
I’ve tried to keep this page as straightforward and jargon-free as possible. If anything isn’t clear, you’re always welcome to get in touch.
Who’s responsible for this website?
This website (lizziehug.com) is owned and operated by me, Lizzie (Elizabeth) Hug, an English conversation coach based in Barcelona, Spain.

As I’m based in Spain, I process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish data protection law.
What information might I collect?
Most people can browse this website without giving me any personal information.
However, I may receive information if you choose to interact with me.
If you join my newsletter
When you click the Subscribe button, you’ll be taken to my newsletter hosted on Substack.
If you choose to subscribe, Substack will collect information such as your email address (and your name, if you provide it).
I use this information to send you my newsletter and occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.
If you book a discovery call
Discovery calls are only bookable through direct contact with me, via Instagram or emailing me at hello@lizziehug.com .
I only collect the information needed to arrange our meeting, such as your name, email address and your chosen appointment date and time.
I only use this information to organise our conversation and communicate with you, and only you about it.
Later, information to register you as a client including your national identification number (DNI) and street address will be requested, as it legally required by Spanish law. Without this information, I cannot send a legally valid invoice for services paid. This information will be stored with Gestoria Guiral (my accountant) and Smart Cookie, an invoicing platform and calendar management system.
If you complete one of my Canva and Google forms
Some pages on this website include forms created using Canva.
These forms are used to register interest in programmes, workshops or coaching opportunities.
Depending on the form, I may collect information such as:
- your name
- your email address
- your English level
- your learning goals
- your availability
- anything else you choose to share with me
I only use this information to:
- reply to your enquiry
- decide whether a programme is a good fit
- communicate with you about the programme you’ve expressed interest in
- organise my coaching services
I won’t sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing.
Embedded content
Some pages include content from other websites, such as Instagram posts.
In the future, I may also embed videos from platforms like YouTube.
When you interact with embedded content, those platforms may collect information about you or use cookies.
Their privacy policies apply to the way they process your data.

Why do I process your information?
Depending on how you interact with my website, I process your information because:
- you’ve asked me to (for example by booking a discovery call)

I don’t sell your personal information.
However, some trusted third-party services help me run my business, including:
- Smart Cookie + Gestoria Guiral (for registering you as a client and sending invoices)
- WordPress.com (website hosting)
- Substack (newsletter)

- Instagram/Meta (embedded posts)

How long do I keep your information?
Only for as long as it’s genuinely needed.
For example:
- newsletter subscriptions remain until you unsubscribe
- discovery call information is kept only as long as necessary
- enquiries may be kept for reasonable business records unless you ask me to delete them

If you’re in the UK, EU or another country with similar privacy laws, you have the right to:
- request a copy of your data
- correct inaccurate information
- ask me to delete your data
- object to certain processing
- withdraw your consent at any time where consent is the legal basis
